Little Known Fact: A.J. Chandler founded the city that would later bear his name. Quite the businessman, Chandler understood that celebrities would bring people to the area. So, in 1911 he built the San Marcos Hotel, a Chandler hot spot (literally and figuratively!) that would draw many of the rich and famous to play golf and relax in the sunshine of Arizona. The star-studded guest list included Fred Astaire, Al Capone, and Herbert Hoover.
