Education in the Phoenix Valley Area

Education is one of the highest priorities in Phoenix. The cityscape – densely populated by private and public elementary and secondary schools, in addition to universities and vocational training facilities – demonstrates its value of education.

Phoenix Valley public schools have received many awards from Arizona’s Department of Education and from federal education departments. The Phoenix area serves over 400,000 students in 57 districts, building essential skills for our global age – foreign languages, mathematics, reading and writing, science, and social studies. Gifted, honors and advance placement classes are available throughout the area. Special education programs also exist to address the needs of a lot of different kinds of learners.

In addition to the excellent elementary and secondary schools, there are plenty of opportunities to seek higher education in the Phoenix Valley area. Arizona State University is located right down the road in Tempe. It has satellite campuses in northwest Phoenix, downtown Phoenix, and Mesa. University of Phoenix is based here in town, with seven local campuses. Tempe ITT Technical Institute offers several bachelor’s degrees in various technological fields, preparing its students for the ever-changing electronic age. Other educational facilities include Grand Canyon University, Western International University, and Thunderbird American Graduate School, whose MBA program is ranked #1 for international business.
